mokou: shoomlah: No really, the film looks beautiful, but come on now, Pixar!  That dead horse was good and beaten by the time Titanic came out, no need to dredge up anachronistic narrative tropes. huh, never even thought of it that way. i wonder if years in the future, the oppressed female scene will have someone struggling to get their bra on, straps flying into their face and getting it inside out (picturing this as a total liz lemon scene??) Didn’t really know about the corset bit, but the “omgz being feminine is SO HARD FOR EVERYONE” and “i’m a tough rebellious princess” trope shit is essentially what’s made me not so excited about this movie. granted pixar usually has pretty misleading marketing and what looks like it’ll be one thing usually ends up being another, so for all i know i could end up loving it, but thus far i’m just sort of…eh.
